The AMMOUSA BEER × COFFEE ISLAND collaboration brought Tropical Stout to the top of the World Beer Awards 2026

A collaboration that began in Patras has reached the top of one of the world's most prestigious beer competitions.

AMMOUSA Tropical Stout, brewed with vanilla and carefully selected coffee from Coffee Island, won a Gold medal at the World Beer Awards 2026 in the Tropical Stout style of the Stout & Porter category. It also received the official distinction of Country Winner Greece.

This year's competition attracted more than 2,500 entries from 64 countries, with a total of 12 beers from around the world competing in the Tropical Stout style. These figures were officially confirmed by the World Beer Awards organisers.

A collaboration built on a shared commitment to quality

This important international distinction celebrates the collaboration between AMMOUSA and Coffee Island—two Greek businesses that share the same roots in Patras, as well as a common dedication to quality and the creation of distinctive taste experiences.

As part of this collaboration, Coffee Island's specialised R&D team participated in the testing and selection process to identify the ideal coffee for the Tropical Stout. The specialty coffee Single Estate Colombia Huila was selected to integrate harmoniously into the recipe and enhance the beer's distinctive character.

Coffee Island's carefully selected coffee meets vanilla and the roasted aromas of the malts, creating a complex beer with notes of coffee, chocolate and dried fruit.

At the World Beer Awards, beers are evaluated through blind tastings conducted by international judges and industry experts. The Gold medal is a significant recognition of the quality, flavour balance and distinctive character of AMMOUSA Tropical Stout.

This achievement highlights what two Greek businesses from Patras can accomplish when expertise, quality and a shared passion for creating exceptional products come together.
